About Us

Dear Roots for Life Future Parents,

What an exciting time – searching for a nursery for your child! It’s time for your little one to spread their wings and begin their preschool learning journey.

At Roots for Life Thame, we are a term-based nursery operating from a beautiful building in Thame. Our space features two large, open classrooms where we set up the seven key learning areas daily:

    • Communication and Language
    • Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
    • Literacy
    • Mathematics
    • Understanding the World
    • Expressive Arts and Design

Our outside play area changes daily, offering a variety of activities to develop gross motor skills. Children enjoy balance equipment, climbing frames, bikes, ball games, and more. Nature-based activities are a big hit — our mud kitchen is a favorite! You’ll often find the children making petal soup or leaf stew.

We are a dedicated team of thirteen experienced, trained teachers. Each child is paired with a special key worker who supports their learning journey. We use eyLog, an interactive observation platform, to track milestones and share progress. Our primary communication tool is WhatsApp, allowing you to stay connected and informed about your child’s day.

At Roots, we believe in the importance of strong communication between home and school. In addition to our WhatsApp group, we share regular photos, updates, and monthly newsletters. Each child creates a monthly calendar to help families remember special days.

Care, fun, and learning are at the heart of our nursery. We love to celebrate — from birthdays to fun-themed days like Umbrella Day, Ice Cream Day, and Teddy Bear Picnics. It’s all about creating wonderful memories!

We also explore exciting weekly themes, including favorites like dinosaurs, space, and fairytales. Storytelling, singing, dancing, and music bring our educational program to life.

Healthy snacks are provided mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Every Tuesday, children visit the local market to select their own fruit. Snack options include fresh fruits, raw vegetables, yogurt, cheese, pretzels, sandwiches, crackers with spreads, milk, and water.

For children staying past 12:00 pm, please provide a packed lunch. Details will be shared in your child’s newsletter. We also offer a breakfast club starting at 8:00 am upon request.

Session options are designed to suit your family’s needs:

    • 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    • 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
    • 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
    • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm after-school club

Please bring a bag with a change of clothes (more if potty training), a water bottle, a sun hat, and a monthly contribution of wet wipes or tissues.
